Rich joined Microsoft in March 2008 and is currently working with Vince Menzione’s Us Public Sector Partner Strategy Team as an Education Partner Manager.
Prior to coming to Microsoft, Rich was an Education Market Specialist for Verizon Business. Before joining Verizon Business, Rich served for five years as the Deputy Chief Information Officer for the New York City Department of Education, the largest in the country serving 1.1 million students in over 1,400 schools throughout the five boroughs. His also served in a number of other capacities in the NYC Public Schools over his nineteen years of service there.
As the Deputy CIO, Rich was responsible for managing strategic and enterprise wide initiatives, research and development of solutions for emerging technologies, vendor and intergovernmental relations, and served as the technology representative on RFP review panels for large projects. He also represented the Department as a panelist and speaker at various national education technology forums.
Rich graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1982 and served as a surface warfare officer for five years before leaving the military and going to work for the NYC Schools.
