CaminoSoft’s Managed Server HSM for Windows 2000/2003 migrates seldom-accessed files to multi-tier storage pool targets based on administrator-defined policies. As a result, it enables reclamation and more efficient utilization of SAN resources for production data, significantly reduces the amount of time required for backup or recovery, and facilitates compliance with internal organization and industry regulations governing file retention and deletion. The advanced Windows-based storage management software continually monitors a server’s allocated disk capacity status and relocates files that satisfy administrator-defined migration policies. Files are relocated from primary disk storage to secondary nearline disk arrays and/or tertiary archival storage devices, thereby freeing up system storage resources at each tier before critical levels or out-of-disk-space conditions are reached. All managed servers are administered from a central Windows-based workstation. This designated console provides easy, visual control over policy set-up and management of the servers through an intuitive graphical user interface. File migration, demigration (bringing files back), and remigration (returning files to their designated tier) occur automatically, without requiring operator intervention.
